CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) – If you’re still looking to finalize your New Year’s Eve plans, downtown Chattanooga is offering a one-of-a-kind experience.
For the first time in recent memory, Chattanooga will have its own celebration!
2014 may be coming to a close, but momentum for Chattanooga’s celebration, called ChattaNew Year, continues to build!
“This has built up momentum the last three to six weeks, ever since Coca Cola has signed on,” Peter Guarneiri, Area Director of Sales and Marketing for Vision Hospitality Group, Inc. said.
Chattanooga Coca Cola Bottling Company, a division of Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED, announced Friday the celebration will include a large scale light show with the 3-D Coca Cola bottle.
“The line of sight when the bottle rises up the building and culminates into a fabulous light show, it will be an event that will be made memorable for many years to come,” he added.
Organizers are putting a twist on the celebration. Instead of a drop—The Coca-Cola Classic 1915 style bottle will rise above the downtown DoubleTree Hotel at midnight, celebrating a new year and the bottle design’s 100th anniversary!
“Chattanooga has not had an event such as this in this nature and we are proud to be a part of that,” he said.
The block party will kick off at 8:00 pm along Chestnut Street between 6th Street and 4th Street. The event is free to the public.
CARTA already has a solution for parking downtown, they’ve extended hours until 12:30 am on New Year’s.
“It will make it easier for people to find parking spaces in and around the city especially down by the water front,” Guarneiri said.
The event is for people of all ages and includes a Kidz Zone.
