On August 3, 1716, the French completed construction of a wooden palisade fort high on the bluff overlooking the eastern shore of the Mississippi River in the area occupied by the American Indian tribe known as the “Natchez.” From this date modern Natchez marks its 300th anniversary in 2016.
In March, 2016, the announcement was made that Natchez Coca-Cola, a division of Coca-Cola UNITED, has teamed up with the City of Natchez in preparation for the 300th Birthday celebration of Natchez, Mississippi. As part of the sponsorship, Natchez Coca-Cola will provide commemorative Coca-Cola bottles. Thursday marked the unveiling of the commemorative Coca-Cola bottle at Natchez Coca-Cola. Russ Hendley, On Premise Sales Manager, Mississippi Division, presented the first bottle to Mayor Butch Brown, City of Natchez. Fun times and Coca-Cola go together … just look at the photo.
The bottles will be sold at various 300th events such as major conferences, “birthday” events, historical reenactments, unique festivals, athletic competitions, musical tributes, parades, music and arts, and more Tricentennial themed activities. There will be something for everyone to enjoy … including plenty of ice cold refreshing Coca-Cola.
