NO RECALL ON DASANI WATER.

Various on-line “reports” of a water recall targeting our Dasani® brand are being circulated (“shared”) via social platforms, emails and even word-of-mouth.   The article, credited as originating from a “news” source, surfaced on a website suggesting to “consume healthy food.”  Below is an excerpt from the article providing information confirmed to be false and inflammatory.

“NEWS 4 – If you purchase/drink Dasani water you might want to listen up. There has been a major recall by the Coca-Cola company today after several thousand bottles of their drinking water was found to be contaminated with a parasite. It has sent several hundred people to the hospital and is responsible for parasitic symptoms such as fever, rash, vomiting and stomach bloating.”

THE FACTS:

In communications between Greg Babb, Corporate Director of Quality and Sustainability for Coca-Cola UNITED, and The Coca-Cola Company regarding the information, The Coca-Cola Company confirmed, “The source of this false and inflammatory information about our brand is a hoax news website. There is no recall of DASANI being conducted in the U.S., so please confidently continue to enjoy DASANI bottled water.”

ON QUALITY & SAFETY:

To ensure consistency and reliability, the Coca-Cola system is governed by the Coca-Cola Operating Requirements (KORE), a quality management program which holds every Coca-Cola manufacturing and distribution location to the same standards of our beverages.

KORE guarantees the highest standards in product safety and quality, occupational safety and health and environmental standards across the entire Coca-Cola system by outlining clear requirements for the policies, specifications and programs that guide all Coca-Cola operations.  To stay current with new regulations, industry best practices and marketplace conditions, requirements and guidelines are consistently reassessed; not only in manufacturing, but throughout the entire supply chain.   Each business within the Coca-Cola system implements, documents and maintains a safety and quality system in accordance with KORE requirements. Compliance to KORE requirements and guidelines is monitored system wide to further support the integrity of our products.

“Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED is committed to the highest quality standards for the products and service we provide our customers,” said Greg Babb, Corporate Director of Quality and Sustainability for Coca-Cola UNITED.  “Quality, Food Safety, Safety and Environmental Management and focus on continual improvement takes place every minute of every day and is everyone’s responsibility.”   Gregg added, “Our  families, friends, and community members drink our products.  We remember that with every product we manufacture or provide.”

Please “share” the facts … while continuing to enjoy your refreshing Dasani® with peace of mind, as usual.
