Coca-Cola UNITED

Toasting it’s 50th with “Georgia Champagne”

December of 2017, a group dedicated to preserving the history of one South Georgia community is celebrating a big milestone.

The Lowndes County Historical Society marked its 50th anniversary.

The organization operates a museum dedicated to local history in Valdosta, where it was founded in 1967.

The Valdosta Daily Times reports the historical society’s celebration included a toast with “Georgia champagne” — known more commonly as Coca-Cola.

The toast preceded a presentation at the museum by Larry Jorgensen of Lafayette, Louisiana and author of the book “The Coca-Cola Trail: People and Places in the History of Coca-Cola.”
