Spring Career Fair Success at Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning
In May, our Human Resources team from Shreveport Coca-Cola participated in the Spring Career Fair located at the Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning (BPSTIL) in Bossier City, LA. BPSTIL is the technical high school in Bossier Parish where students from Airline, Benton, Bossier, Butler, Haughton, Parkway and Plain Dealing High Schools attend for specialized technical programs.
Many of the programs at BPSTIL offer industry-based certifications and/or dual enrollment which gives students a jump start to college and career opportunities. In many cases, students are bound for universities, technical programs, military, and the workforce in a related field. Students can explore the programs at BPSTIL that are associated with their career interests.
This event is a way our Human Resources team can connect with young men and women in our communities and give information helpful in developing a career path. We had a great time hosting a table where students could also learn more about Shreveport Coca-Cola, their local bottler in our Coca-Cola UNITED family, and our employment opportunities. We equally enjoyed learning more about these young men and women- who are an integral part of creating a better future.
This is the second career fair held at BPSTIL since opening in the fall of 2015. We learned so much at the first career fair that we were even more excited to join BPSTIL again this year.
Students gravitated toward the Coca-Cola booth (and cool swag items). We talked with students about career opportunities, as well as who we are and what we do as a local Coca-Cola bottler. Many were surprised to see swag items that identified other brands in our beverage portfolio, like Monster and Dr Pepper.
To add some more fun into the career fair experience, we had drawings for bigger, better giveaway items such as coolers, backpacks and T-shirts.
Shreveport Coca-Cola is proud to partner with BPSTIL to provide answers and information for equipping help young men and women develop a plan for their future. As members of the the BPSTIL advisory committee, we work together to continually improve and align BPSTIL programs that address the changing dynamics for the future of business and industry. We look forward to learning and sharing more at BPSTIL’s next career fair.
