Our local bottlers, along with the Coca-Cola System, and local businesses in Birmingham recognize the change that can happen when we work together to continue improving our ways to bring about a “World Without Waste”.
Our people at Birmingham Coca-Cola joined with local companies at the Birmingham Sustainability Leadership Summit hosted by UAB’s Collat School of Business which was sponsored by UAB Sustainability. During the conference, businesses discussed the challenges of meeting their sustainability goals and explored possibilities by sharing with one another.
Yvonne Tauton of UAB News wrote,
This is the first time the business community has come together to discuss and share their ideas and find a way to work together on sustainability efforts.
“We are excited to host UAB’s first corporate sustainability leadership summit,” said Julie Price, Ph.D., manager for UAB Sustainability. “The future of our region’s environmental, economic and social sustainability depends on the commitment of area companies to work together to provide innovative and cost-efficient solutions.”
The corporate attendees engaged on a variety of topics, including:
- Waste Diversion
- Supply Chain/Purchasing
- Energy and Water
- Staff Engagement in Sustainability
In the 2014 Sustainability Leaders Report Interface was ranked third among companies leading the way on sustainability — right after Patagonia. Erin Meezan, VP and chief sustainability officer at Interface, delivered the opening remarks, at the open event.
Together, we are making a difference in our communities.
