A press conference was held in Baton Rouge on Thursday, April 18, 2013, to kick off Louisiana Earth Day which was celebrated in downtown Baton Rouge the following Sunday. Baton Rouge Coca-Cola was honored to partner with the East Baton Rouge Parish Recycling Office for this event and provided product, signage and recycling barrels, as well as a Rainwater Recycling Barrel that was  given away by WKRF 89.3FM.

Louisiana Earth Day was filled with many interactive activities and exhibits.  Zydeco and Cajun bands performed throughout the day.  Environmentally friendly, fuel efficient cars were on display in the Louisiana Clean Fuel vehicles booth. There were pottery and seed planting booths where pots could be made using recycled materials. There were various children’s activities, a bicycle valet which encouraged festival goers to bike to the event rather than drive, and informational booths on organic gardening and Louisiana wetland plants and soils, just to name a few.
