Keeping it clean (of Apple Snails) in Mobile

Mobile Coca-Cola, your local Coca-Cola bottler in Mobile, often ban together with local businesses and organizations to make a positive long-term impact in their community.  The waterways are a priority for the Mobile area- so managing the “apple snails” is just another way this community cares for their environment.

Mobile Baykeeper hosts two Apple Snail Roundups each year.  “Why?” (you may ask).

Apple Snails are an invasive species that destroy habitats by eating vegetation along streams and river banks. They reproduce at an alarming rate and are able to survive our mild winters. Volunteers will help find and capture adult and juvenile apple snails, as well as remove apple snail eggs.

Cleanup tools, safety items, and drinks are typically provided. Volunteers with canoes, kayaks, or small boats are a huge plus!

Check out the Mobile Baykeeper social post below for more and add the reminder in your calendar for next year!

Together, everyone has a fun time doing good things for the community, sharing special moments, and making memories to last a lifetime!
