In 1986, a group in New Jersey recognized the unique issue of family homelessness and began Family Promise.  Now, there are 192 affiliates in 41 states that utilize over 160,000 volunteers and serve 55,000 people annually.

On Thanksgiving day in 2010, Lindsey McCamy and her family were in Dalton, Georgia for the holidays. Her parents were serving dinner to homeless families that were sleeping in their church as part of the Family Promise program. Lindsey returned to Gainesville and developed a passionate vision to see a family promise affiliate open here. Others caught the vision, believing that a community working together could end the cycle of family homelessness.

In 2012, family promise of hall county opened its doors.

Working together

The Gainesville Coca-Cola team partnered with Family Promise of Hall County to provide and prepare dinner for those in need in our community June, 2019. The team prepared and served dinner and assisted with daycare to the Family Promise families in the program while they had class.

Family Promise is reaching out and helping the families in crisis by creating a collaborative network of services to provide complete wraparound support. Some of their services are the Short Term Housing Program, Next Step Affordable Housing, L.I.F.E. Program, Promise to Feed, Diaper Program, and Little Steps Community Daycare.
